Our History
St. Patrick’s Primary School is a co-educational Catholic School founded in 2007 and catering for children from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. The school commenced with 81 pupils and was established in response to a local requirement for additional school places as a result of an increased population growth. It was one of a number of schools which were part of an accelerated Department of Education & Skills provision at that time. The negotiation of the planning, development and building at our current site was a prolonged process and due to the demand for pupil places and the urgency of the situation, we started life in the Old St. Wolstan’s Convent on the Dublin Road. The building had lain idle for nine years, but with rapid intervention and cosmetic modifications, a number of rooms were made suitable for occupation and educational purposes. A bus service was provided to transport pupils from the designated school site to the temporary location.
In September 2008, we took up residence in our new school building at the GAA Grounds on Hazelhatch Road. This is an architect designed pre-fabricated school and will be our home while awaiting relocation to our permanent site. The building stands on a site of 6160 m2 leased from Celbridge GAA Club. It consists of 16x80 m2 classrooms, 5xSEN rooms, principal’s office, secretary’s office, store rooms, staff room and multi-purpose room. The ground floor occupies 1223m2 and together with the upstairs classrooms, there is a total area cover of 2050 m2. The site also includes tarmac and grass play areas. The school has access to the GAA pitches and the hall on Wednesdays or on request.
